Introduction

This Couples Counselling work can help couples understand, expand and re-organise how they respond to each other in times of high emotion and can help them stop getting caught in those unhelpful, often repeated, conflict cycles. It often also involves having a look at how our old unresolved childhood issues can impact on the relationships which are most important to us, such as those with our partners.

It’s my understanding and experience that the unmet needs from childhood often lead us to have conflict with our partners. Especially when we look to have those deep unmet needs met by our partner, and they are not able to do so. Its not having those deep needs met that can often lead us to behave very badly to our partners-as it touches on deep core hurts. This way of working also looks at the way couples can get caught in unhelpful cycles of interaction and opens up space to stop this and change the interactions for the better.
